The short version

Who we are
myexpert.work is built and operated by SilkySoftware (“we”, “us”). This policy covers everything on this site: the marketing pages, public expert profiles at myexpert.work/<nickname>, and the expert dashboard. For anything privacy-related, write to [email protected].
What we collect
If you’re an expert with an account
- Sign-in details. You sign in with Google, LinkedIn, or GitHub. We receive and store your email address and the provider’s account identifier. There are no passwords, and we never store the provider’s access tokens.
- Your profile. Everything you put on your page — name, headline, bio, location, skills, services, portfolio, links, and images — is published on your public profile. Uploaded images are re-encoded before storage, which strips hidden metadata such as camera details and GPS location.
- Verified links. If you connect a social account to verify it, we store the public handle and profile URL the provider confirms — nothing more.
- Support conversations. Feedback you send from the dashboard is stored so we can reply.
If you contact an expert or leave a review
To keep leads and reviews trustworthy, both require verifying who you are with Google, LinkedIn, or GitHub. From that verification we store your name, verified email address, profile photo (a copy we host ourselves, so pages never call the provider’s servers), public profile URL, and — for Google Workspace accounts — your organisation’s domain.
- Messages. The expert you contact sees your message together with your verified identity, including your email address, so they can reply to you directly.
- Reviews. A published review publicly shows your name, photo, the provider you verified with, and a link to that profile — never your email address. The expert you reviewed can also see your verified email.
If you just visit a profile
Public pages record page views and link clicks so the expert can see how their page performs. Each event stores the referring site and an anonymous identifier: a random value your browser generates, which we keep only as a cryptographic hash. These profile analytics do not store your IP address, browser details, or location — we could not identify you from them if we tried. IP addresses are used briefly in server memory to prevent abuse (rate limiting) and are never written to our database or logs.
Site analytics
Separately from the profile analytics above, we use Google Analytics to understand how the site as a whole is used. Google Analytics sets its own cookies and collects device and usage information, including your IP address, which Google processes under its own privacy policy. You can block it with the Google Analytics opt-out or an ordinary content blocker — the site works fully without it. If we add another analytics tool, such as Microsoft Clarity, we’ll disclose it here first.
Cookies and local storage
The cookies we set ourselves are first-party and strictly functional — none of them follow you across sites. There are no advertising cookies.

How we use your data
- To run the service: publish profiles, deliver messages to experts, and verify reviews.
- To show experts how their page performs, using the anonymous profile analytics described above.
- To understand how the site as a whole is used, via Google Analytics.
- To keep the platform safe: rate limiting, spam filtering, and abuse prevention.
- To answer support requests.
That’s the whole list. We don’t sell or rent personal data, we don’t share it with advertisers or data brokers, and we don’t build advertising profiles.
Who can see what
- Everyone. An expert’s profile page — including published reviews — is public, indexable by search engines, and readable by AI assistants. That is the product’s purpose.
- The expert you interact with sees your message or review together with your verified identity, as described above.
- Our team. A small number of administrators can access account and support data when needed to operate the service, verify experts, and moderate content.
- Service providers. Traffic to the site passes through Cloudflare, which provides security and delivery for our self-hosted infrastructure, and Google Analytics measures site usage for us as described above. When you sign in or verify, the OAuth provider you choose (Google, LinkedIn, or GitHub) processes that sign-in under its own privacy policy. We use no other processors — no payment providers, no email services.
How long we keep it
- Expired sign-in sessions are purged within the hour.
- Review invitation links expire after 30 days; their tokens are stored only as hashes.
- Profile content, messages, reviews, and analytics are kept for as long as the expert’s account exists.
- Records of visitor verifications are retained so verified reviews stay trustworthy. If you want your visitor identity erased, email us — the reviews or messages you wrote then simply lose their verified badge.
Deleting your account
Experts can delete their account from dashboard settings. Deletion is immediate and permanent: your profile, portfolio, services, images, messages, reviews, analytics, and sign-in records are all removed. Anything you edit on your profile takes effect right away, so correcting your data is self-serve too.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights to access, correct, export, delete, or object to the processing of your personal data. Most of these are self-serve here — your profile is yours to edit and your account is yours to delete — and for everything else, including requests from visitors and reviewers, email [email protected] and we’ll handle it. If you believe we’ve mishandled your data, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
The service is for working professionals and isn’t directed at children under 16. We don’t knowingly collect their data; if you believe a child has provided us personal data, email us and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
When the service changes in a way that affects your data, we’ll update this page and revise the date at the top. For material changes we’ll say so prominently on the site before they take effect.
